A Piece of the Coast – Bamburgh Castle Keepsake Print

I want to share with you one of the places I have visited that has truly stayed with me. There really are places that linger in your heart, and Bamburgh Castle is one of those magical destinations that feels like something out of a fairytale.

Perhaps it is the salty air, the echo of waves crashing against the shore, or the way the sunlight dances across the stone walls of a castle that has stood proud for centuries. Majestic, weathered and full of stories, it watches over the Northumberland coast like a timeless guardian.

Did you know that Northumberland has more castles than any other county in the UK? Seventy, in fact. Scattered along this historic coastline, Bamburgh Castle is one of my favourites and perhaps the loveliest of all to paint.

I can't write about Bamburgh Castle without mentioning weddings. Oh my, getting married at Bamburgh Castle sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? You might begin your day in the Philippa Tower, where Philippa of Hainault, Queen of England, stayed in 1333 with Edward III. Your ceremony could take place in the majestic King’s Hall, or, for something more intimate and romantic, the Keep Hall. Afterwards, drinks on the Battery Terrace with sweeping views of the sea, or perhaps a reception in the Stables. And when evening falls, dance the night away in a marquee on the green, nestled in the shadow of the castle itself.

It is breathtaking to think you can combine a castle, panoramic sea views and the atmosphere of a stately home all in one place. It really does tick every box.
