Bristol Skyline Art Print – A Hand-Drawn Celebration of the City
Bristol is a city full of energy, history, and creativity, and I wanted my Bristol Skyline Art Print to capture exactly that. From its iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge to the vibrant coloured houses, the cityscape is instantly recognisable. With a strong sense of community, a thriving arts scene, and a love for all things creative (hello, Wallace & Gromit!), Bristol is a place that has always inspired me.
This illustration is my personal tribute to Bristol’s unique charm, drawn by hand in black and white pen, with pops of colour bringing the famous houses to life.
The Inspiration – Time Spent in Bristol
The idea for this print began after spending time in Bristol, as a graduate I worked in Bristol and years later I regularly visit friends, any excuse to visit the city’s streets and soak in its lively atmosphere. There’s something about being there in person—seeing the contrast between historic landmarks and the city’s modern creativity, noticing the little details that make it special.
As you know, I love getting a feel for a place before I start sketching. The process always begins with research—taking my own reference photos, exploring different angles, and piecing together the perfect composition to reflect the city’s character. I wanted this skyline to celebrate both the grand architecture and the smaller, familiar details that I know love.
The Drawing Process – Bringing Bristol to Life
Most skylines I create are hand-drawn in black and white pen, a style I love for its timeless elegance. The crisp lines help highlight architectural details, while the freehand style keeps it feeling organic and full of life.
For the Bristol Skyline Art Print, I carefully balanced the city’s landmarks to create a composition that flows naturally. The Clifton Suspension Bridge is, of course, the star of the show—standing proudly over the Avon Gorge—but I also wanted to include some of Bristol’s other iconic sights. The historic harbourside, the Bristol Cathedral, and those famous rows of colourful houses all feature, adding depth and character to the piece.
While most of my skylines are monochrome, I couldn’t resist adding splashes of colour to Bristol’s houses. It’s such a distinctive part of the city’s look, and without it, the skyline just wouldn’t feel complete!
One of the things I love most about Bristol is its connection to Aardman Animations, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit. The city is full of fun references to its beloved animated characters, and I knew I had to include a little nod to them in my print. Banksy also features, keep an eye out—you might just spot familiar details hidden within the skyline!
A Piece of Bristol for Your Home
This Bristol Cityscape is a perfect way to celebrate your love for the city, whether you’ve lived there, studied there, or simply visited and fallen in love with its charm. Its clean monochrome design (with that little pop of colour) means it suits almost any interior, from a modern apartment to a cosy home office.
The print is available in multiple sizes, and I also offer personalisation—so if you’d like to add a special message, name, or date, just let me know. It makes a thoughtful gift for Bristol locals, graduates, or anyone who’s moved away and wants a reminder of home.

A technicolour version!
If you know Bristol, you'll be familiar with the Bristol Balloon fiesta and the second art print featured within this blog post is the Bristol Balloons art print. A technicolour tribute to the fiesta.
